Many people think a website is finished the day it launches. In reality, a site needs regular care, just like a shop needs cleaning, restocking and repairs. Website maintenance keeps your site fast, secure and accurate.
What website maintenance includes
Updates
WordPress core, themes and plugins release updates that add features and fix security problems. Skipping them is one of the most common reasons websites get hacked.
Backups
A backup is a saved copy of your site. If an update goes wrong, a plugin breaks something or content is deleted by mistake, a backup lets you roll back. Daily backups are included in our Gold and Platinum packages.
Security monitoring
This covers SSL, secure configuration and basic protection against attacks and spam.
Content edits
Your business changes: new prices, new photos, new staff, new opening hours. Our packages include monthly edit hours so you can request changes without a new project.
Performance checks
Sites slow down over time as content grows. Periodic checks keep pages loading quickly, which helps visitors and SEO.
Uptime and support
Hosting should stay online, and when something does go wrong you need someone to fix it. Our packages include a 99% uptime guarantee, and support tickets are answered within one business day.
How monthly edit hours work
Each package includes a set number of edit hours per month:
| Package | Edit hours per month |
|---|---|
| Silver | 1 hour |
| Gold | 3 hours |
| Platinum | 6 hours |
Unused hours do not carry over to the next month. If you need more, extra hours are charged at a small hourly rate listed in our Terms.
What maintenance usually does not cover
Be clear about scope. For example:
- Paid third-party premium plugins. Beyond standard plugins, these are the client's responsibility to purchase and are not supported.
- Mistakes outside our control, such as installing a faulty plugin yourself. Where a backup exists, we can roll back to it.
- New projects such as adding a whole new section or online shop — these are quoted separately.
Why skipping maintenance costs more
Fixing a hacked or broken website is usually far more expensive and stressful than paying for regular care. Downtime means lost enquiries, and an outdated site damages trust.
Your part: keep passwords safe
Choose strong, unique passwords and keep them secure. Clients are responsible for their own account credentials.
